The Alexander Technique is a hands-on method of movement re-education that teaches us to recognize and change long-term postural and movement patterns that may interfere with our natural ability to move with ease and fluidity. We will learn to observe the habitual ways that we hold tension in our bodies and how to release that tension and rediscover our inner sense of grace and coordination. We will work with applying the Alexander principles to everyday activities, as well as to specialized skills, and explore how Alexander can be a tool for enhancing awareness in all aspects of our lives.

Keep on Keepin’ On

This class is a great follow-up to Hope’s First Class or the New York Open Center’s Alexander Technique class, and is an economical alternative to private lessons. And, if it’s been a while since you’ve studied Alexander, you’re warmly invited to attend these classes. They will remind you of the principles and help you reconnect to the practice.

Continue your Alexander practice in an intimate setting. Learn to integrate the technique into more aspects of your daily activities. Further explore the relationship between your mind, body, and bearing. Enjoy easeful “weightless” movement.
