This workshop is highly experiential and includes periods of meditation, exploration of the felt sense through Focusing, and gentle hands-on bodywork.

For the last 10 years I have been attending an annual 2 month winter meditation retreat at Gampo Abbey, Pema Chodron’s monastery in rural Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Besides participating in the retreat, I have been assisting Pema for many year. This year Pema taught on Shambhala the Sacred Path of the Warrior, an enlightened manual for these dark times!

I also worked with the participants in the shrine room on their Shape of Awake®, (otherwise known as meditation posture) which is always a pleasure for me.

Susan Barrett, a winter retreat participant made what she called “snow beings” – 53 of them! – all over the grounds of Gampo Abbey. It was a study in impermanence. And, she made this video. Enjoy!

Last summer, my colleagues and I known as the Collaborating8, taught at an International gathering of Alexander teachers in Dublin, Ireland. We trained Alexander teachers for many years in NYC and for the last 4 years we have been meeting monthly to exchange ideas and experiential work. We will be teaching together again at the end of June at an Annual Conference of Alexander Teachers at Mannes School of Music in NYC.

The Collaborating8 taught Continuing Learning workshops at the Dublin Congress last summer and wrote an article about it that was recently published in The 13th International Congress Papers. Here it is – Check it out!

In April 2021, I was interviewed by Jonathan Bastian on the radio show A Life Examined on KCRW, an NPR station in L.A about Embodied Listening. We talked about how listening to ourselves helps us better hear what others have to say. My interview is 21:53 into the podcast. Check it out!
